There are three main types of single cup coffee
maker.
K-Cup Brewers - which use "K-Cups." There are five different K-Cup brewers you can choose from, usually
available where you buy your machine.
Coffee Pod
Brewers - which take coffee pods. There are many different
coffee pod brewers, made by a variety of manufacturers. Most of them can be found at Amazon site.
Tassimo Brewers - which takes T-Discs. There are two T-Disc brewers, the Braun Tassimo and the Bosch
Tassimo. Also available on the Amazon website.
Once you have purchased your brewing machine, you also need to get the sealed
K-Cups, pods or
disks of coffee that work with your particular brewer.
Brewing the coffee is simple and
easy. You only need to insert the K-Cup, pod or T-Disc in the machine, add water to the reservoir, and press one
button.
In just a minute or so it heats the water enough
and you have a fresh brewed cup of coffee, with no
sloppy filters to pull out of the machine and throw away.
Is a single cup coffee
maker the "thing" for you?
If you only want to grab a
single cup of coffee here and there, one of these countertop machines may be exactly what you
need.
Or if you like the taste of
gourmet coffee, but are always too rushed to grind beans and brew a whole pot.
Or if you want to make your
coffee with no messy cleanup.
Two things to think about,
before you purchase…
Even though they are convenient,
one cup coffee makers have two drawbacks.
1. You are limited with your
choice of coffees blends. When you grind the coffee beans yourself, you can choose from hundreds of types
and flavors, from walk-in stores and online, But with a one cup coffee machine, you are limited to the
flavor blends the companies choose to offer in the K-Cup, pod or T-Disc style.
2. Each cup of coffee will be
more expensive. If you are on a tight budget, then buying loose coffee beans to use in conventional drip
brewer will be nicer to your pocketbook.
Choose based on your tastes, budget and lifestyle…then
enjoy!
